Finalists announced, and Showcase Final SOLD OUT (2012)

This is a brief update on the Liverpool Acoustic Songwriting Challenge 2012.

The judges have finished their deliberations, all the marks are in, and the ten songwriters to reach the Showcase Final have been decided. They are (in the order they submitted their songs):-

  • Steve Swinnerton & Dave Johnston – Face to Face
  • Kevin J Eustace – How did it get to this?
  • Al Dente – Dance The Night Away
  • Barry Jones – San Vito 1970
  • Vanessa Murray – I Don’t Wanna Lose You Like This
  • Luke Moore – Once Great Notions
  • Kevin Critchley – Your Song
  • Victoria Neale – Soul Clap Hands
  • Phil Poole & Liz Kearney – Pearl Mother
  • Chris Callander – The Ghosts of the Old Casartelli

You can listen to all of these songs on the Songwriting Challenge Soundcloud set.

If you click on the arrow at the end of the line (see pic above) it will open the song on it’s own page and you’ll be able to see the painting that inspired the song, plus a copy of the lyrics.

The songs that didn’t quite make the cut are also available to listen to as well here. You’ll see from these just how high the standard was this year.

Showcase Final

The Showcase Final is taking place this coming Friday 23rd November at the View Two Gallery. The doors open at 7.30pm (30 minutes earlier than normal) with the event starting at 8.00pm.

The night is sponsored by Mako Music who will be filming each of the performances.

This event is already SOLD OUT. There will be no entry on the night for anyone without a ticket.

If you didn’t manage to get tickets then we’re sorry you missed out. The ticket information for all of our future events is published to our PR mailing list and includes secret advance ticket links for you to buy tickets before they go on general sale. You can sign up to this mailing list here.

We’ll be announcing the winner of the Judges’ Award and the Audience Favourite next week, and will give you a chance to vote for your favourite – just for fun, of course! The prizes for the two winning songwriters is kindly provided for the second year by Crosstown Studios.
