We are delighted to have Balance Vocal Studio on board as an official sponsor for the Liverpool Acoustic Songwriting Challenge 2015. The two winning songwriters (Judges’ Award and Audience Favourite) will each receive a free vocal coaching or songwriting session from Songwriting Challenge judge Kaya Herstad Carney.
Balance Vocal Studio is the exciting partnership between Liverpool based vocal coaches Ian Davidson and Kaya Herstad Carney – two of only ten authorised Vocology in Practice™ (VIP) singing teachers in the UK. They offer the expertise of dedicated music professionals with a shared twenty years experience of teaching, working and performing in the music industry.
Ian and Kaya, met over 14 years ago when they started studying at the world renowned Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA), an institution that they both ended up lecturing at for more than 8 years.
Both Ian and Kaya hold Bachelors and Masters degrees in Music and have spent the last 10 years studying voice with some of the most prestigious and experienced Vocologists and Vocal Coaches in the World. Both of them still lecture in singing at Higher Education level, Kaya at the University of Chester and Ian at the Institute of the Arts Barcelona.
Ian and Kaya make it a priority to remain up-to-date with the latest developments within the field of vocal pedagogy, and use cutting edge technology such as Sing & See and VocalizeU to really enhance the learning process for their clients.
They love working with and nurturing musicians and are themselves also active singers, multi-instrumentalists, songwriters and are committed to artist development and creating opportunities for our students and being aware on trends in the industry. As part of the VocalizeU Teacher Network, Ian and Kaya have excellent music industry connections in London, New York and Los Angeles.
Ian and Kaya also have a solid knowledge within Musical Theatre and can help train you towards showcases and auditions – be it for higher educational purposes or the West End.
