I live in Salford/Brent/Gateshead. Can I enter?
Yes. The Challenge is open to anyone living in the UK, with the only condition being that you have to have personally visited a public work of art on display in the Liverpool City Region (Wirral, Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens, Knowsley, and Halton) during the entry period to pick a work of art to write a song about.
I can’t make it to the Showcase Final at LEAF in January. Can I still enter?
If a song is chosen to go through to the Showcase Final but the songwriter(s)s cannot attend, they can nominate other musicians to play their song on their behalf. If they can’t do this then the recording of their song will be played for the audience to listen to.
I can write songs but I’m not a particularly gifted performer. Will this go against me?
No. All the submitted songs will be judged on their own merits – the level of performance will not be a factor. Obviously the recording of your song submission should be as clear as possible so that the judges can hear the lyrics and music, but it’s the songwriting that will be judged.
