How to enter
Entry Period – 5th September to 4th October 2020
1) The rules
Yes, we know it can be a pain having to read through the rules but it’s important that you know what you’re signing up for. Read the rules here, and if you’re happy with them then carry on to step 2.
2) Visit the Liverpool City Region (with camera!)
To enter the challenge you must visit the Liverpool City Regions (Merseyside and Halton) between 5th September and 4th October 2020. Make sure you have a camera or camera phone with you.
3) Pick a work of art
Pick a work of art that inspires you to write a new song. The art must be on public display, and can be anything that is classed as ‘art’ – paintings, murals, stained glass windows, statues, pavement art, etc.
It’s important that you take a clear photo of your chosen work of art as you’ll need it when you submit your entry.
4) Write your song
Next step is to write your song. Good luck!
5) Record your song
To enter the Challenge you’ll need to submit a digital recording of your song. This can be recorded at home using a computer, laptop, tablet, or mobile phone. It’s the song that’s being judged, not the performance, although it’s important to note that the recording needs to be clear enough for the judges to hear the words and music.
6) Submit your entry
All entries must be submitted via the website, and include
- name and contact details
- digital recording of your song
- a copy of the lyrics
- a photo of the work of art that inspired you
The entry form opens at midday on Saturday 5th September and will be available until 6pm on the closing date Sunday 4th October 2020.
The judges will then review all of the songs and score them based on lyrics, melody, composition and originality. The top ten placed songs go through to the Showcase Final on Saturday 16th January 2021.
Successful finalists will be informed by 7th December.
