About the 24 Hour Songwriting Challenge

The 24 Hour Songwriting Challenge was launched in 2018. Unlike the regular Songwriting Challenge where songwriters have a month to write their songs, this version challenges songwriters to write a brand new song inside 24 hours.

Songwriters are invited to write a brand new song inspired by a work of art submitted to the 24 Hour Art Challenge.

The gallery of images will be launched at 12pm on Saturday 3rd April when the 24 hours starts. Songwriters will have until 12pm on Sunday 4th April to write and submit their song.

All entries will be marked by the judges to find the Judges’ Award winner. There will also be public vote to find the Public’s Favourite award winner.

Important information

Please read the terms and conditions of entry (the rules) BEFORE you register!

You cannot register until you’ve finished writing your song. To ensure this you’ll be required to upload a copy of your completed lyrics when registering.

Withdrawal

We realise writing a new song within 24 hours to fit a set theme is a challenge. If you complete a song and apply to take part but later on feel you’re not happy to perform then simply let us know via email and we will then remove you from the running order and allocate your place to someone on the reserve list.

The Rules

We know we’ve already mentioned this, but we’re going to do it again. Before deciding if you want to take part please read the rules.
