24 Hour Songwriting Challenge 2021
Terms and Conditions (i.e. the rules!)
Hey kids, we know ‘da rules’ aren’t the most exciting part of a competition but they’re here for a reason. We didn’t particularly like writing a prescriptive list of items, but it’s the only way we can make sure everyone who enters is being judged the same way.
So, the message is…

The Basics
- The competition is open to songwriter(s) of any age living in the UK.
- Songwriters under the age of 16 must have their parent’s permission to enter.
- The challenge is free to enter.
- Only one entry per songwriter (or collaboration of songwriters) is allowed.
The Song
- To take part in the challenge a songwriter needs to write a new song inspired by a work of art submitted to the Liverpool Acoustic 24 Hour Art Challenge. This art will be displayed in a gallery on the Challenge website from 12pm on Saturday 3rd April 2021.
- Entries must be an original song, entirely the work of the entrant(s), comprising of lyrics and music. Instrumental entries are not permitted.
- Songs must have been written entirely during the period between 12pm on Saturday 3rd April and 12pm on Sunday 4th April 2020.
Entering
- To enter the 24 Hour Songwriting Challenge a songwriter should complete the online form which will be open from 12pm on Saturday 3rd April and close at 12pm on Sunday 4th April 2020.
- The 24 Hour Songwriting Challenge is being run entirely online. All of the entries will be uploaded to YouTube and will be made available for everyone to watch using a playlist on the Liverpool Acoustic YouTube account.
- Songwriters will be required to upload a document or PDF of their final lyrics.
- Songwriters have a choice of how to submit their song –
- upload a video or audio recording using the link in the registration form. There is a 100 MB file size limit. This file will then be uploaded to the Liverpool Acoustic YouTube account.
OR
- upload a video or audio recording to a file sharing site, and submit a download link. This file will then be uploaded to the Liverpool Acoustic YouTube account

Withdrawing
- Applicants can withdraw at any time by emailing challenge@liverpoolacoustic.co.uk
Voting
- Once the 24 Hours is over and all of the songs have been added to the YouTube playlist a voting system will enable people to vote for their favourite song.
- Voters are expected to listen to all of the submitted songs at least once before casting their vote.
Permissions
- By entering the 24 Hour Songwriting Challenge songwriters and performers will grant full, unconditional, non-exclusive use of their song and any future recording, free of any licence, for use in the future promotion of the competition.
- Songwriters and performers will agree to allow the use of their names, likenesses, recordings, videos and voices for promotional and publicity purposes on the Liverpool Acoustic, Songwriting Challenge and Threshold Festival websites and social media and on other third party websites and in publicity and promotional materials and press releases.
And finally…
- By participating in the challenge entrants agree to be bound by these rules, by any subsequent published revisions of these rules, and by the decisions of Liverpool Acoustic which are final in all matters relating to the contest.
- The right is reserved to cancel the competition at any stage or amend any of the terms or details of the prizes as necessary.
